Strange Dream
Áine on April 23rd, 2003 filed in GeneralI found myself in a car driving into L’Anse. I didn’t take much notice of the car, but I don’t think it’s one I’ve ever driven before. The next thing I know, I’m talking on a cell phone to my mother while I’m driving. Now, this would not seem at all strange to most people but, you see, there are two oddities here: 1)I have never actually used a cell phone in my life, and 2)my mother has been dead since 1995.
At the time, I didn’t think it at all strange that I should be talking to my mother… it just seemed so natural, and she sounded very good, really. She wondered how long it would take me to get “there” (wherever that was), and I told her I’d be there shortly. And then she got all worried and proposed that I put her and dad up in a motel for the night. Huh? It was at that point that my waking mind realized I was talking to a dead person who had no idea that my father has since moved on with his life and is living with some woman in Detroit, and that I haven’t spoken to him since 1998. Needless to say, I did not inform my mother of this, and went on with our conversation as if nothing odd was taking place. I reassured her that I’d be there shortly, the line went all static-y and then I woke… with a smile on my face. That was interesting.
It would be nice to locate a cell phone that could speak with the dead. I wonder what her number is? hehehe
