about all the controversy currently going through the game of blogshares and it’s “community.” But I do have a lot of thoughts about it. And apparently, this blog is being monitored by certain people, who then whine and cry about whatever I happen to write in it. I find it funny that other people think they can tell me what to write or not write in my own blog. Attempts have been made to silence me (and others) about what’s been said or done. I was even asked to be “the bigger man” and let it all go, only to find myself and my friends under a constant barrage of accusations and attacks.
Here’s a thought : Wasn’t the person who is doing all the accusing also under a lot of investigations for player ethics himself? If one person says you’re a shit, you can be given the benefit of the doubt, but when a lot of people say it, perhaps some credence could be applied to what they have to say? Seems logical to me.
Whatever log files from IRC that the game’s creator, or anyone else, has been privvy to… those did not come from me. I don’t usually pass along log files to people who are not in the channel unless it is a matter for the police or paramedics, or if I feel those third parties have a Need to Know with serious reasons behind them. Passing along casual remarks made by others and taken out of context is probably not something I would do… it amounts to petty gossip and pandering to the lowest common denominator for human behavior. I guess when people are desparate and feeling insecure and “left out” they will resort to that sort of behavior in some sort of twisted idea that by doing so, they gain some sort of power over the rest of us.
It reminds me of that FuckHead essay that I found floating around the ‘Net more than 6 years ago. Yes, apparently even games have them. The hilarious aspect of this is, of course, that it is just a game and any perceived power in the game is actually very minor as compared to the petty powers of the game “community” itself. One bully-boy does not run the entire community, and they should, as a whole and as individuals, tell him so. Clubs are optional.
