Saturday Evening Musings
Áine on September 6th, 2003 filed in GeneralThe past week or so has been filled with new and interesting things. The BSEC election went well, and thanks to the support of the voters I’m now a sitting member of the BSEC at BlogShares.com. I received far more votes than I thought I would get, which was a very pleasant surprise.
I ordered my digital camera, but that won’t be here for another couple of weeks… I’ve set up a photoblog to post all my pictures and offer minimal commentary. Right now, the first post there is about the camera I’m getting. It was fun tweaking the templates and stylesheet in MovableType to build that, and I’m looking forward to taking some pictures to put up there. Fall colour season will be hitting here in the U.P. just about the time I get my camera, so hopefully I’ll get some good photos. It’s been a while since I was seriously into photography, so this will be a good chance to find out if I still have an eye for a good shot.
The memory cards and battery charger arrived via UPS yesterday. I was surprised how small XD picture cards are… it’s too bad floppy disks weren’t that small and could hold that much data, but then, I suppose, they would be that expensive too.
Tonight we sat around the campfire in the backyard roasting hotdogs and marshmallows. The sunset was beautiful and the full moon came up through the trees. My brother-in-law and his daughters came over for a little while, and it was nice… a feeling of actually having a family. I hadn’t felt that in so long. I still miss my dog, too. I woke up this morning thinking about her… missing her. *sigh* Yeah. I think next Spring, it’ll be time to get another… but it won’t be the same, I know.
