John Titor - Time Traveler

Áine on September 14th, 2003 filed in Tangled Webs

Although there is debate over the exact date it started, on November 02, 2000, a person calling themselves Timetravel_0, and later John Titor, started posting on a public forum that he was a time traveler from the year 2036.

John Titor claimed to be a soldier on a mission from 2036 and presented a considerable amount of information on the Web about his mission and time travel machine, his perspective on our society, how our society is going wrong, and how society as we know it will end in a very short but massive intercontinental nuclear war in 2015. He’s gone now, back to 2036 he said he was going in his last posting on March 24, 2001, and the threads he left across the Web are slowly evaporating.

Sure, sure, a time traveler. Why should anyone believe such a cockamamie story? The answer is you shouldn’t, at least not yet. But there is a strong thread of internal consistency throughout Mr. Titor’s story, there is supporting evidence in the form of some fairly detailed photographic documentation and good physical theory about his time travel machine, and most important of all Mr. Titor made a very specific prediction about the near future that should prove him to be either a fraud or not: America will soon be engaged in civil war with itself; a civil war that we’ll see the beginnings of during 2004 and 2005, escalating until it is indisputable by 2008 (a general date by which time everyone will realize the world they thought they were living in was over) and “will consume everyone in the US by 2012” (no vague Nostradamus ramblings or Bible-baloney in this stark prediction).

This is not the same time traveler who’s been sending email across the internet for the last couple of years asking for assistance in gathering parts. Read the info, and decide for yourself if this is for real or not. One way or another, time will tell.

I’ve read quite a bit about John Titor and am at a lost at what to believe. I have a question that everyone else seems to be overlooking, and that is, Why are the people who took John’s offer to forward their emails from March 2001 to ‘back to 1998′, not sharing their story???? If they are, would you know where they would be posting?

  2. Aine Says:

No idea, but it’s a good question. Another related thought… why would those emails still be in their Inboxes? Do you still have saved mail from 1998? I don’t, in fact, my email address has changed a LOT of times since then, so even if he’d sent me one of my emails (which I wasn’t in on) back to 1998, I wouldn’t have known it was from me, and would probably have deleted it as spam. The email test was really not a very good one.

At This time, Titor said that the divergence of our timelines was 2.5,in YEAR 2000!!!, so the convergence was about 97.5…
year after year his timeline is closest to our timeline, on 2004 included:

I have a few thoughts and alot of questions about who Pamela is and how she was involved with John and where is she today? Im not sure that I believe that he was a real person and what not but Im also not sure if its all lies or the truth? Some of its really quite easy to believe and some of its really hard to.

  7. Smeg Says:

I’ve been trying to catch up on the Titor story for a while now. I wish I was on the net back then to ask a few questions of my own. Though there are quite a few holes in his story, some of it hits home. I do believe he’s a fraud though, after reading most of it. Over 66,000 hits on /Google alone good going John.

  8. Merlin Says:

I must admit John’s story and his character are very believeable. His black hole theory on time travel isn’t too different than what I believed would make it possible, but according to him America would engage in civil war in 2004-2005 with a Waco like incident increasing every month and not one so far(is this what he meant by divergence). I am writing this in September 2005, no civil war, (not that I’m disappointed) but I am not ready to call him a fraud just yet. Like I said his character was believeable he offered pictures and schematics for his time travel device and right now the world is going through a great unrest, and the state of this worlds peace and sequential order is volatile to say the least, again no mad cow breakouts as he predicted.
He really is just a simple soldier or he is a beyond brilliant fraud, I mean when he said he was leaving there were no surprise return which lends to his credibility. As for his predictions right now I’m giving a thumbs down, and believe me that’s a good thing!

  9. Aine Says:

No civil war? True, so far, although if you’ve been paying attention to what’s going on down in New Orleans the last couple of days, it might make you hesitate a bit. Armed gangs roving through the city, national guardsman shot in the leg, widespread anger among the poor, rescue efforts that while heroic are too slow and disorganized… on top of this, the high gas prices, the clusterfuck that is Iraq, widespread corruption among corporations and politicians alike, and an ever-widening gap between the obscenely wealthy and the desperate poor. And lookie over there, the gov’t closed the investigation into how that Texas cow contracted Mad Cow Disease.

I’d say Titor hit the mark, if off just a little bit in his time calculations… which we could say is a divergence.

  10. George Says:

I want to hear from the people that took part in Johns ‘email experiment’ where he sent emails from 1998….what happened with that???

  11. Roth Joint Says:

    quote: John Titor
“I would describe it as having a Waco type event every month that steadily gets worse.”
“Have you see the documentary on Waco? Just for argument’s sake, what do you think would happen if information were discovered that confirmed the worst accusations made against the law enforcement officers there? Would you hope nothing?”
“However, there are a great many “non lethal” weapon systems in development that turn out to be quite lethal. Sometimes I watch your television programs that show SWAT teams using new non-lethal weapons. They usually start out with, “In the future, the army and police will fight its enemies with new weapons systems…” When they use the word “enemy”, they’re talking about YOU! You don’t really think the Marines are going to jump out of helicopters overseas with sticky goop, pepper spray and seizure lights, do you?”

    quote: John Titor

  12. Aine Says:

    Uh huh, I know.

Attempts to tell people this and other things, however, are futile, as they will just label you as some kind of “moonbat” or “conspiracy theorist” and thus ends the discussion. They attack your credibility or resort to personal attacks, rather than examine the facts and ideas being presented.

Likewise, any use of the words “fascism” “fascist” or “hitler” are also useless, and any attempt to criticize the current “regime” and it’s anti-freedom agenda results in numerous labels being applied to you, particularly, “anti-semitist”. I do wonder, however, how the extremist Zionists defend their alignment with the extreme right wing faction of the Republican Party, since Bush’s own grandfather did business with the Nazis and there is ample evidence to prove that… you would think they would draw the line somewhere, wouldn’t you?

  13. Algreen Says:

and what about Ethan Titor? I have read about this another time traveler who come from 22 century in order to contact John.

  14. Devcon Says:

What struck me immediately about his story is that he knew ‘IT’ was a type of scooter. ‘IT’ was unveiled as the Segway in late 2001. Info was tight lipped, nobody would have known… But here he is in January of ‘01 telling us this… Hmmm…

  15. Dan Says:

It’s safe to say that after 2001, the world’s state has gone hectic. And it’s not getting any better. Titor left just in the nick of time.

  16. Hmm. the ibm 5100 computer does have a 'defect' in it. Its the PROM chip on the processor and it has been confirmed. Says:

    hmm
