On This Day…
Áine on December 17th, 2003 filed in ProfileToday is the 24th anniversary of my Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Navy. I served from Oct.14, 1976 to Dec. 17, 1979 as both a Deck Seaman and a Radioman. The last vessel I served on is now an artificial reef just off the coast of Charleston, South Carolina, whose Naval Base was also the location of my last year of duty. At one point, I was a Sailor of the Quarter, with the attendant special privileges that went along with the distinction. I also held the highest score on the military exams of any sailor in the command, both enlisted and officer.
Yes, a little bragging is in order, -especially- today.

Happy Anniversary! I hit mine last August, 11 years since I enlisted in the US Army (I was in active duty from ‘92 until ‘97).

It’s been nearly four years since I left the Royal Air Force after 12 years service. Happy days. I worked with a few US forces personnel too in various far-flung places - Kuwait, Saudi, Turkey etc.

As a person that lived among servicemembers (happy army brat), I’ll definately give you my congrats. Some people complain, and people like you gave their energy in keeping the rest of us safe. Thank you for your time, and I mean that.
