Behind the Scenes

Much to my surprise, this past week I was asked to be -one- of the Admins behind the scenes at BlogShares, and after talking with Jay Campbell and his crew and asking them all kinds of questions, I’ve agreed to take on the job. From what I understand, the game will be run on a team approach, and (eventually) various teams will be formed to take care of different aspects of the game, it’s sites, it’s forums, and the Blog Street Journal. All final decisions and policies rest with Jay Campbell, not me.

Currently, I’m familiarizing myself with the admin console, figuring out what each screen’s functions are, etc. I’ve been working on the alt urls, stock merges, and that kind of stuff. Currently, the BSEC is on hold because there are no forums or any way to coordinate their activities. My own game playing will be minimal (as it has been for the last couple of months), and I’ll be mainly testing game functions and so on. I’ll also still be doing Industry Moderator duties, as time permits. Overall, during this transition to new servers and getting everything working again, game play will not be optimal, so don’t expect any short-term miracles. It wasn’t all that great in the last two months of operations either, but hopefully, things will slowly begin to get better as the stumbling blocks are overcome one by one.

Any game changes will be up to Jay and the rest of the crew. Currently, they’re just working on ironing out the code problems. One of the things they’d like to do, however, is to more fully integrate the forums, BSJ, and main site together, so that it’s nearly seamless with one login for all those things (instead of three, like it used to be). Right now, it’s looking like some hardware upgrades are needed before any major code changes can help the site to start speeding up and running more smoothly. And yes, I know how frustrating that is for players, I’ve been with the game since nearly the beginning of beta, and I’m still hanging in there, working behind the scenes to make the game a little better for everyone involved.

    I’m sure you’ll do a good job too ;o)

I’m patiently awaiting the improved new forums, as it was the community aspect of Blogshares that most appealed to me, as quiet as the forums were. I’m watching with interest - good luck with the admin side if it too :o)

    Awww… thank you.
I’m not sure when the forums will be up, but they *are* a priority.

Seeing as your now one of the “admins” perhaps you could look into something for me? it would appear that most of the PersianBlog shares are “missing”. There’s a huge difference between the total shares and those that are owned - about 10:1.

Where did the rest go? Maybe I can’t see for looking but there don’t appear to be any sell-orders and no-one actually owns the site. No pressure ;o)

And my account has now been unsuspended. Nice.

Especially as i used to be one of the best players of the game. . .

Funny you should mention Persianblog. I was just looking at that last night. The current way of fixing that is for me to claim ownership, HTO it, fix the share numbers (if I can figure out how), and then release it to the public. But, I’m trying to figure out an easier way from the admin console to do that. We’re also trying to figure out an easier way to correct wrong share numbers without having to go through all those steps… so yes, persianblog is on my To Do list. :)

LOL, he should have made it a red button, that would have been even more tempting. *grins*
