To the Paranoid

About publishing my private e-mail in your blog. Well, I can’t stop you from doing something illegal can I?

Illegal under which country’s laws? The email was originally sent to me and one other person. It passed through several countries and innumerable servers on it’s way from your machine to mine. It was not encrypted from it’s point of origin. Legally speaking, however, one is not bound to keep silent about any information that one has not signed a confidentiality clause in order to receive. I didn’t sign any confidentiality clause prior to receiving an *unsolicited* email from you, and notice is clearly given here on my web log as to an implied permission granted to me by the sender of any such email to repost whatever I see fit unless a prior arrangement is made with me or the email is deemed by me as “hate mail.”

There is also the question of whether any email correspondence sent over the Internet, without being scrambled or encoded (e.g. with a PGP key), in any way can be said to be private. If you send a post card or email that can be read all along the way, it certainly doesn’t have the same privacy as postal mail that is enclosed and sealed in an envelope, and you shouldn’t be too surprised if it gets a wider audience. In fact, you should probably expect it. As an aside, history contains many examples of people publishing whole books of correspondence that originally was sent privately.

Thus any attempt on your part at censuring Freedom of Speech, might be considered both unwarranted and unconstitutional under United States law, and with good reason. For future reference, you might want to check the legality of parodies. You might also want to watch what you post about me, as there are laws covering libel, at least in most civilized countries.

In short, bite me.

Sincerely,

The Evil Queen

As always you are little or no informed at all. As every lawyer will tell you the interception of private messages is illegal. So, yes, even if someone read an e-mail and publishes it it is incurring in a serious crime. Also, only e-mails sent to public agencies, institutions or organizations are considered to be public.
Parodies? What parodies? Are you refering to fictional press releases written in a game site? Even if they were written elsewhere the same freedom of speech you invoke applies to parodies.
Aine, your arrogance has gone too far. Also the fact that both you and Morgaine choose to insult someone that e-mailed you in peace shows of your character. And the fact that you classify my apologies e-mail in the category of hate e-mail is at least hilarious. About posting about you. Nah, you give yourself too much importance. You’re not worth the bytes as your answer to my e-mail shows. If you prefer to right hate posts about me, do so. Like someone once said, good or bad, talk about me. I can’t change the way you waste your time. So talk, write… if it makes you happy. But me, I won’t waste another single byte to refer to you. And as I would wish to any stranger:

Have an Happy Easter and best wishes,

    Afonso :)

BTW, your title is a funny. Well, dictionary.com has the following definition for the word paranoid:

    1. Relating to, characteristic of, or affected with paranoia.
    2. Exhibiting or characterized by extreme and irrational fear or distrust of others: a paranoid suspicion that the phone might be bugged.

Now, is this funny or what? I sent you an apology e-mail, and have read the following in Morgaine’s blog:

“It also appears that this person hasn’t desisted in his attempts at working on other people to influence them to be rude in the same places he was rude to us.”

Hilarious…Who is showing an irrational fear or distrust of others?

Last but not least, don’t expect me to answer any future insults, flames, etc. Want to gain audience at the cost of other people’s private lifes? Do so. You have done it in the past with others. Not surprised if you do it again the future. But remember the world is round. One day you’re prey, the other you are the hunter. One day someone will judge your actions in the same manner you judge others. And that day, you will remember what the word forgive means.

    Baited.
    Hooked.
    Flung to the beach.

An apology which didn’t mean a thing.
    Point proven.

@ Afonso: I didn’t mention any names in my blog. I didn’t mention yours, I didn’t mention BlogShares. It was you who decided to make yourself known. And you could have apologised in public, you could have done so in my blog.

FYI: I removed the two trackbacks pings you made to my blog as they only pointed to non-existing pages.
