Strange Mail

Áine on April 27th, 2004 filed in General

I’ve just opened my postal mail and I’m sitting here a bit baffled. The envelope comes to me from Dublin, Ireland… University of Dublin, Trinity College, with an Irish postal cancellation stamp in the upper right corner, so I know it’s come all the way across the sea to reach me. This is a flyer advertising their Master of Philosophy degree in Irish Art History. Now, the strange part about this piece of mail is that it is addressed to my online/pen name. There is no street address, in fact there’s a stamp on the envelope that says “Insufficient Address.” I’ve only just moved here about a year ago. The people in this town… they don’t know me, they don’t know my online name either… and yet, here it is, arrived in my postal box. How? I haven’t a clue. But I do find it interesting.

Sounds like the setting for a good good novel.

Now I’m beginning to wonder if I’m the only Irish person around, so “she must be it” or something. LOL

If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.
