NZXT Guardian ATX Mid-Tower Case
Áine on August 31st, 2004 filed in Geekware, HardwareIn my continuing piece-by-piece project to build a new computer, late last night after weeks of agonizing over choices, I finally succumbed to this beast, the NZXT Guardian ATX Mid-Tower Case with 400w power supply. NZXT’s goal is to create unique products and designs, and the Guardian is certainly that.
“Are you ready for Battle?”
The design concept behind the guardian was robots and characters from various themes. By combining an original design with the innovative Guardian Motion LED, NZXT made it’s first impression on the case industry.
The Guardian was also acclaimed for the easy screwless system and its intricate side panel.
10 Drive Bays:
5 external 5.25″ drive bays
2 external 3.5 ” drive bays
3 internal 3.5″ drive bays
7 expansion slots
Motherboard Compatibility: ATX, MicroATX, BabyAT, MiniATX
Mid-tower steel ATX chassis
1 tri-color LED fan (side panel), 1 80mm rear fan; (expansion for 2 more)
External Ports: (2) USB 2.0 ports, headphone, mic jacks
Patented Guardian Fade Motion LED
And it’s the overall construction (steel), and appearance, and that last feature which grabbed my attention (I’m such a sucker for design!). This thing just looks evil. The price was also a factor, coming in at $67 plus a flat shipping fee of $13, for a total of $80… reasonable, considering it comes with a 400w power supply. That’s about half the cost of the other case I was drooling over, the CoolerMaster CMStacker (which didn’t come with a power supply), but budgets being budgets, I’ll settle for this beast. Muahahaha!
A complete review of this case is at ATrueReview.com, but the model they were sent to review did not include the power supply (included in retail versions).

I love those cases. They look like Optimus Prime from the Transformers. Everytime I see one, I wanna yell “Transform and roll out!”

I’m reminded more of Voltron, somehow. One of the legs, maybe?
