Integrity of the Vote

The evidence is mounting that the 2004 Vote may not be kosher. DU’s Bozos for Bush has found some incriminating emails which show the problems from the 2000 Election : Global Election Systems email proves they knew votes were not all counted. If the corporations responsible for tabulating the votes have been routinely hacking the software (but only in certain places, apparently) and not logging any irregular events (like ballots that aren’t “read” by the machines), how can anyone expect there to be any integrity in the 2004 vote? GES also knew that some versions of its software were flawed, and not all precincts got the same version software. Is it THAT difficult to ensure version homogeneity across the country among their clients? You would think with something as important as a presidential election, they would do a better job of it than Microsoft does with WindowsUpdate, wouldn’t you? Heh.

William Rivers Pitt also writes that Triad Systems, whose punch card machines were used throughout Ohio in last month’s election, is also being scrutinized by Rep. John Conyers of the House Judiciary Committee, but the GOP leadership is refusing to sanction or recognize the hearing. What went on in Ohio is definitely cause for alarm. Conyers, upon hearing the allegations, sent a letter to both the FBI Special Agent in Charge in Ohio and the Hocking County Prosecutor. (You can find the documentation on this at the above link.) In addition, Pitt earlier posted a separate blog about the Conyers hearings with a ton of documenting links about the Ohio vote. If our elected congressman and senators won’t ensure the integrity of the vote, then I suggest we do the only thing we can do… get rid of them.

I think it’s curious that all the irregularities so far uncovered seem to favor Bush, don’t you? I don’t understand why these discrepancies are being so widely shrugged off… suppose the irregularities favored the Democrats, would the media look the other way then? I don’t think so. Also, from what I understand, a lot of the problems uncovered during the 2000 election were never corrected for 2004. The present system is such a patchwork of hardware systems and software versions, and then there’s people switching computer parts before the machines can even be examined… heh, it’s no wonder that suspicions are so prevalent that there is a distinct possibility that the past elections were tainted.

Apparently, some of the Electoral College electors across the country agree. They’re protesting. :)
