Dear Dumbfucks

Áine on March 21st, 2005 filed in Undeliverable

TO: UNITED STATES CONGRESS, THE PRESIDENT, ALL JUSTICES OF THE SUPREME AND CIRCUIT COURTS, MY STATE GOVERNOR, AND . . .

TO WHOMEVER MAY PRETEND TO BE CONCERNED ABOUT ME IN ORDER TO PANDER TO THE RELIGIOUS RIGHT:

PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT I DO NOT WISH TO BE KEPT ALIVE BY FEEDING TUBE, IF MY LIFE COMES TO THAT AND I AM IN A PERMANENT VEGETATIVE STATE.

I HAVE DECIDED IT’S APPROPRIATE AND NECESSARY TO ADVISE YOU ALL OF MY WISHES.

THIS IN NO WAY, HOWEVER, EXCUSES YOUR HYPOCRISY IN NOT BEING ANYWHERE NEAR AS CONCERNED ABOUT 1521 DEAD AMERICAN SOLDIERS, 3000+ DEAD AMERICAN WTC VICTIMS, OR 150,000+ DEAD IRAQI CIVILIANS, OR IN THE NUMEROUS PEOPLE AROUND THE WORLD THAT YOU HAVE UNJUSTLY DETAINED, TORTURED, AND MURDERED. THEIR BLOOD IS ON YOUR HANDS.

BY THE WAY, DUMBFUCKS, DO YOU KNOW WHERE THE MONEY FOR SCHIAVO’S CARE CAME FROM? THAT’S RIGHT, A LAWSUIT! AND NOW, BECAUSE OF YOU DUMBFUCKS, THAT KIND OF COMPENSATORY AWARD CAN NEVER AGAIN BE GRANTED. I HOPE YOU’RE WILLING TO PAY FOR THE NEXT VICTIMS.

SINCERELY,
The Evil Queen

So you would prefer death in similar circumstances. Good for you. But what we don’t know what Schiavo would have wanted, and you’re in no position to make that decision for her.

And please, enough on Iraq. That’s like so three months ago. Time to move on.

  2. Larraine Says:

Right, Peter - that’s SO three months ago. Unless of course someone you love is dead. Do you honestly think her husband would be fighting this way if he didn’t think that what she wanted? He’s been offered money more than once to abandon the fight.

  3. SwampQueen Says:

Yeah what person in this world would want to be kept alive by a feeding tube? That is no kind of life in my opinion! Her husband is doing what’s best for his wife and he should make the final decision, nobody else!! The government has no business sticking their nose in private matters anyway?

  4. Peter Says:

Actually, Michael has a financial interest in the matter. Not that this is meant to assasinate his character, but it does call the purity of his motives into question.

Always err on the side of caution. In this case, that’s life.

  6. Peter Rempel Says:

In all of that, I can see no justification for the slow starvation of Terri Schiavo.

  7. Aine Says:

I’ve read that the hospice administrators say that what they are doing is the most humane way. Personally, I’d prefer to go a little quicker, but that’s only legal in certain states that have legalized assisted-suicide.

I think it’s oddly morbid how we treat animals more humanely than humans in that respect. Humans generally have a hard time letting go.

When it’s my time to go, I hope my family doesn’t have such a hard time letting go. And I hope they love me enough to respect my wishes.
