Áine on October 6th, 2005 filed in GeneralI haven’t blogged here in over a month. The reason, though it may not always be clear even to me, is that after Katrina; after seeing how incompetent, rude, racist, petty, and opportunistic this Administration really is… the whole thing completely disgusts me. And I stepped away from politics, from the news, from current events, from blogging here, from my work at Radio News America… a “hiatus” it seems. In truth, I felt burned out by it all.
I still feel that way.
I’ve been spending much of my time stumbling around the web, seeing other sites, viewing a lot of art work, reading others’ thoughts, dropping in on old friends here and there… too caught up in my own thoughts to even write about what I’ve been seeing Out There or how I feel about it all.
Winter comes. Someone strums my heart strings.

I was wondering what happened to you? Love to hear from you sometime? Hope all is well your way. We are bear hunting around the swamp. No bears yet but saw plenty lately. Our friend from downstate is staying at the hunting camp right now. The deer are still coming for the apples in the yard. We have a doe and her fawn coming around. They aren’t afraid of us at all either! Smile.
Send me an e-mail one of these days. Swampqueen

One Time ends, other Times begin. At your center, the values are Timeless. Believe in that, and love the music. All the rest is just window dressing.

Played some of the music you made for me for me years ago today. Miss you and hope to see you before the snow comes? Have a good one!!

Yes, everybody, I’m ok. Just need some time to figure out what direction I want to go. I’m enjoying all the art and poetry I’m reading/seeing online. I have always had these things as interests, but just never indulged in spending large amounts of time immersed in such things. It’s all good.
And Chris, I never know when you’re working or at home. I can call you from here from now on and it’s a local call, so I’ll try to catch you at home sometime this week. Ok?

I understand your feelings, Aine. Been going through the same thing myself (or something similar). You almost wonder why you bother to say anything at all, when you see how colossally UNWORTHY this group of asses is to hold power, and there’s nary a peep of protest from “the people.”
Someone e-mailed me and said (something like), “I miss your voice. It made me feel like I’m not the only one who sees how screwed up things are.” I offer the same sentiment to you. Reading your posts always shows me that there are other rational folks out there who care.
Take whatever time you need to clear out the clutter. But don’t lose your voice. You’re too important.

It sounds as if you are too lazy to keep up your site…….

No Skinner, not lazy, just burned out and taking a break. I have several sites, this is just one of them.
Nice to see you here, though. Didn’t think ANY du-ers were visiting. *smiles*

I don’t think the Evil Queen is lazy… I think she’s just awesome! Everyone needs a break from politics every now and then or one will be babbling in the corner with spittle running from the corner of one’s mouth. Be NICE Skinner. You of all people should understand political burn out!

Good point, I think you may be speaking for a lot of people. I run a discussion board and am in that scene, so many established boards have gone belly-up the last month, and the administrators haven’t given explicit reasoning, I think this whole country is just shell-shocked and depressed.
I’m de-lurking, but have enjoyed your blog and know many will continue to enjoy your work wherever it takes you. Kind regards,
Robin.
