Shout Out - Open Thread
Áine on February 27th, 2006 filed in GeneralLooking through the stats, I’ve apparently got quite a few readers who are coming to this blog from their bookmarks… but ya’ll never make any comments, ya lurkers!
This thread is for you. Give a shout out / rant / emote / whatever. Tell me what you’re thinking. Don’t be shy.
BTW, the more you successfully comment here (over time), the better your karma. Conversely, the more times the spammers hit this blog, the worse their karma and the better the chance that they, their URLs, and their IPs remain actively on my blacklist.
If your comment goes into the moderation queue, it just means you’ve tripped one of the tripwires in the filters. If it’s not spam, it will be posted as soon as I see it in the queue.

I’ve just readded your feed after it disappeared from bloglines. I like the new design - good job!
Hope you are well and wearing lots of clothing. No doubt it’s a bit chilly where you are. It’s a bit parky here too but no snow (yet)
Glad to see you’ve joined Newsvine. I really like the design and feel of the place. Let’s hope it’s not ruined on public launch

It disappeared because I switched from MT to WP when I moved the domain to a new server, so all the feeds are different. I think I like WP a lot more… there’s so many things that are already built-in, and it’s easier to manage. I’ve switched all my blogs to WP. Most of this design is due to the theme I’m using, but I’ve tweaked it here and there (as usual). LOL I like the comment preview underneath where you comment… it’s not even a plugin, it’s part of the theme.
Currently I’m in the middle of moving 3 other domains, waiting for propagation.
We have plenty of snow up here. My spouse is working parttime on the weekends as a ski instructor, so he’s having a blast with it. I generally try to stay out of the cold, and stay indoors. I was watching the weather yesterday and it looks like Belgium got a little snow. England never gets that much, though… mostly just ice storms, if I remember right.
Yeah, so far I am liking newsvine. We get the full feed from the AP, and feeds on every page, so we can drop those in our blogs out here. I’ve got the politics one in the sidebar here, down at the bottom on the front page. I’m going to be busy rebuilding those other domains for the next week or so, but after that, I’ll probably spend a lot of time doing newsvine stuff. I was thinking I really should just build a new template for the feeds I want to keep an eye on over here. We’ll see.
I love monkeying around with RSS and scripts. hehehehe

Yeah, I know. And guess what? They still don’t know who did the anthrax attack in the fall of 2001.
But, yanno, if we start putting two and two together and come up with something that makes sense, we’re immediately paranoid nutjobs, radical leftist wackos that no one should pay any attention to.
Heh.

Oh, also, if you haven’t discovered Glenn Greenwald’s blog (”Unclaimed Territory” linked in my sidebar), you have to start reading that one too. The man has his head screwed on straight and makes a lot of sense. I’m becoming a regular reader over there.
