It’s nice to take step or two away from the morass of current events. It helps me remember what I’m really about.

I frequently need to remind myself that “time” is really only a framework to construct a container of and to help us to make sense of events. Time is relative, and even the observation of events is relative, depending on viewpoint/perspective. There are really only now-points, and they aren’t a straight line.
One of the things that got me thinking about this was Robin Warner’s recent article, on Shamanism.

I read it too, and there were already a bunch of excellent comments, so I kept quiet. I couldn’t help but think of it in terms of my own relationship with nature, and the little “rituals” that I do without even thinking about them anymore.
I agree that time is a great deal more than a linear sequence of events, and moves differently for each of us. To live within this flux of time, and to embrace the flow of energy around you, is the very soul of Shamanism, without the name. Robin is a very bright young woman. It’s curious, how kindred spirits find each other; it almost gives one faith

I’m like that too. My sense of “ritual” is less a planned thing, and more a “this feels right, right now” thing… some would call that Chaos Magick, but for me it is more like Natural Magick… being in tune with Nature, the energy flow. I don’t always even know why I’m doing what I’m doing at the time I’m doing it… and I don’t analyze right then either. Analysis can wait ’til later (sometimes years later) when there are more pieces of the puzzle(s) there to analyze.
Robin first contacted me via MySpace, and not via Newsvine, although we were both members of Newsvine when she sent me the first message. It turns out that Robin has read everything that I’ve ever written that’s still available online… she had been, in a kind of funny way, “cyberstalking” me for quite some time before ever making contact. That kind of surprised me / weirded me out… but I got over it, and I’m glad she finally made contact.
I know that some people sometimes find me kind of intimidating in some ways (and rightfully so on some levels, imho), but in some ways it seems laughable for me to say this… it’s like being afraid of a river that runs deep.
*grin*
