Friday, June 1st, 2007Paranoia Over A Poppy
Monday, May 7th, 2007The Royal Canadian Mint produced nearly 30 million such quarters in 2004 commemorating Canada’s 117,000 war dead.
An odd-looking Canadian quarter with a bright red flower was the culprit behind a false espionage warning from the U.S. Defense Department about mysterious coins with radio frequency transmitters. (AP Photo/J. Scott Applewhite)

Happy 75th Birthday, Cheeta
Sunday, April 15th, 2007If you would like to give a gift to Cheeta, please consider donating to the CHEETA sanctuary, which also cares for other ex-movie primates. Cheeta can create a beautiful painting for you. Cheeta uses a paintbrush and bright colors for his creations. Paintings created by Cheeta are available for a donation of $135 per painting (this includes $10.00 for shipping within the continental US) or $150 per painting (this includes $25.00 for shipping outside the continental US). Your donations are tax deductible and all of the proceeds are used to support the animals at the sanctuary.
Cheeta the chimpanzee, the animal star of 12 Tarzan films, celebrated his 75th birthday yesterday (April 9th). The famous animal star, who appeared in the 30s and 40s jungle blockbusters, is the world’s oldest chimpanzee. The usual lifespan is about 50.
Rudy Giuliani in Drag (1997)
Saturday, April 14th, 2007I’m kind of surprised the AP pulled this out of their files to publish today, although it might have been more effective to do so in, say, October just before the election.
New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, right, dressed in drag as a role in “Victor/Victoria,” sings with Julie Andrews at the New York Hilton in this March 1, 1997 file photo, during an event presented by the Inner Circle. Shocking New Yorkers is difficult, yet Giuliani teetered close to the line when he sauntered on stage wearing a platinum blond wig, a face full of makeup, dainty white gloves and a frilly pink gown filled out in all the right places. Dressing in drag is de rigeuer for New York mayors at the city’s annual Inner Circle dinner – but how it will play with conservative voters in the Republican presidential primaries is unknown.
